Another Price: $170,000 by Miriam Pia

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

Today let’s survey some of the different types of homes available in Atlanta for the cost of $170K.  Well, no, that isn’t true.  The price is $170K, the cost depends a great deal on whether you can buy the place outright or whether you take out a mortgage…and if so, how long it runs.

You can get low lying ranch houses with a decent lot at this price.  There are an impressive array of condominiums, townhomes and lofts available within the city at this price range.

The number of bedrooms that you can access at this level is also a range.  One, two and three bedrooms are all possibilities at this point.

Fresh, brightly painted row houses with crisp new designs are only one of the many ways to go.  Large stately mansion ’shaped’ courtyards are one front style of condominium.  Those just happen to ’suit me’, although there are many other excellent sorts out there.

New service in Internet marketing

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

The following is a paid review of new Internet marketing service called: ReviewMe.

What is ReviewMe?
It is a system where bloggers can make money on reviewing products and services. Companies can get reviews for their new products, valuable feedback and opinions from bloggers who can influence many other people by their reviews. It allows companies to test ideas in very inexpensive ways. Regular users are ignoring ads. Reviews are regular articles. For example like this one. Bloggers can choose which product or service they want to write about. Advertisers can decide what bloggers will get an opportunity to review their products and services.

How bloggers make money?
It all depends how their blogs are popular. Popularity is counted by some automated script which is probably considering Google page rank and inbound links. More inbound links and better Google Page Ranks means that blog is more popular. It also means that such blog has many more visitors who read it on regular basis. Therefore such blog will make more money for publishing a review. If you own blog you can sign up and see immediately what will be your reward for publishing a review. For example with this blog it is $20 per review. If popularity goes up then the reward will go up too.

James Creek by Miriam Pia

Friday, November 10th, 2006

James Creek is a new fully developed community in Atlanta.  Tree lines streets are but one of the amenities in this private neighborhood.  This type of privacy means that the builders and the neighborhood association have control over matters such as whether or not soliciting is permitted.

The homes in here are decidely middle class, but not ‘the bottom of it’.  The residents are likely to be a mixture of the private and public school types, but mainly because public schools really aren’t meant to be ’schools just for the poor but for people of all economic classes’.

There is a fantastic place to entertain yourself and your family right in your neighborhood.  This is the local clubhouse and we might see it as ‘posh compared to many public parks’ but ‘cheap and even accessible compared to places like country clubs’.  Tennis, swimming, snacks: all of this in this charming community.  Best of all, it is discrete but not gated so you won’t feel like a prisoner.

Saving You Money, Saving the Planet & Still Video Games by Miriam Pia

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Welcome back!  Yesterday we opened our discussion about Energy Star homes.  Today, we’re going into this a bit further.

Three years ago, the use of these homes was determined to have reduced toxic ‘greenhouse emissions’ to the same extent that taking 14 million vehicles off of the roads would have done!

How important is this?  When it’s you, it may not seem like that big of a deal:  ‘am I really making a difference by bothering to have an Energy Star home?’…well, you, as part of the group to do so reduced energy costs by $7billion- that’s 9 zeroes!

Finally, in addition to all this, waste was reduced: how much?  How about an amount of energy that could provide a multiplicity of domestic services to over ten million homes was saved instead of wasted…just think of how much smoke that really is….that, thanks to Energy Star, never went up.

Energy Star: 2 part series by Miriam Pia

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Welcome back.  Today we’re covering another aspect of your home in Atlanta.  Let’s look at energy efficiency.  As you know, like it or not, we are globally connected.  The bad news is that pollution seems to have gotten out of control…the bad news can lead to a sense of helplessness, but what I have today is the antidote to that.

One more question to ask your realtor is:  “Is this an Energy Star home?”  and “Do you have Energy Star home listings?”

Energy Star is one of the many proactive ways that we can use to improve the local and overall environmental quality.  Does it make a difference?  The answer is a strong, resounding YES!  It most certainly does.  In the next blog, we will look at statistics about how much it matters.

Relocation Scouting by Miriam Pia

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Okay, so you are interested in relocating to Atlanta.  Today let’s make a ‘mini-plan’.  If you have been reading this blog for a while then you might well have already found some homes that you would like to check out live.

Get out your appointment book and schedule something: your visit.  How you make the journey is up to you, based on what you can do at any given time.

Contact your realtor and set up ‘dates’ to view the houses.  Prepare your vehicle or buy your plane tickets.  Make lists of what you need to check while you are there.

By doing this you can greatly reduce the hassle and the risk of your relocation.

Pricey but worth it in Druid Hills by Miriam Pia

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Please forgive me if this one is far beyond your means because it is fantastic!  There is a gorgeous 4 bedroom at 940 Springdale Rd. in Druid Hills.  The front and the back of this place are incredibly different, as different, I’d say, as a full grown woman.

The front is yellow, on a spacious lot.  Inside there are what, to those accustomed to ‘high living’ probably feels ‘essential’:  there is a large chandelier that oversees a winding broad staircase.  There is a lovely den, and a fantastic private living room.

The price tag is also high:  $2.7 Mil…maybe you buy it, then open the place and sell tickets?!  It is a beauty!

Yet Another Reason to Choose Atlanta by Miriam Pia

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

Today, we’re going to take another peak at what Atlanta has to offer that is in addition to the real estate that we have looked at so far and that we will go into in still more details.

This is the ephemeral cost of living index.  One of Atlanta’s charms is that it is relatively inexpensive.  What this really means is that an annual salary of $30,000 gets you more in Atlanta than it does in say, L.A..

Next, is for those of you who are more business minded:  this is that the cost of establishing and running a business in the city of Atlanta is also lower than it is in many other parts of the nation.  So, if you are abroad, and are trying to figure out how you are going to be able to afford getting your company’s foot in the American market an inexpensive location may make this more realistic for you.  Or if you are an entrepeneur and you wish to keep costs down, then Atlanta is one great place for you to give running your own business a go for the first time.

Atlantic Station by Miriam Pia

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

Today we’re taking a look at another development within Atlanta.  This one is a work-play-live area, meaning that the developers intend for it to fulfill all of your needs rather than only some of them.

Atlantic Station offers, two separate towers for people to live in, plus a park, plenty of pedestrian paths and places for folks to ride their bicycles.  Finally, these also offer numerous shops and other forms of inexpensive entertainment.

This is a perfect example of a Master Planned community, where all aspects of living are taken into account during the planning phase.

The rents and mortgages for Twelve and Metro on 16th start out at a low of $1150/month.
