Is this ‘fishy’? Differing tastes in Real Estate by Miriam Pia

Today we’ll take an overview on the Atlanta market.  There are residential neighborhoods that have grown up with the city.  Here already we face a basic type of choice.  How do you want your home?  Do you want it to have a fresh, brand new quality?  Do Master Planned neighborhoods appeal to you, or do you wrinkle up your nose at them?  Do you want a residence that has been around from the get-go, a prestigious ‘founding time’ home or are you more into the latest in converted Metropolitan Lofts?

Your lifestyle preferences, personal tastes and budget wil all have to be combined in order to figure this one out.  It is one matter if you are quite clear on what you want.  In that case, all you have to do is find it.  However, you may not be so certain, in which case, the process of elimination can work wonders.  If you need an estate or a country club, or even a modest golf club residence, then the highrises, lofts and most of the rest of town can be deemed ‘chaff’ and that’s that.  Go to Buckhead or Druid Hills first.  If you don’t find what you want there, then you will meet people who can send you in the right direction.  There’s the ‘wheat’.

Everyone has preferences.  To some, there is something strangely ‘fishy’ about modern ‘pre-planned communities’.  I don’t know why; maybe it’s the nursery feeling of the saplings or simply that a lot of folks prefer the well lived in second-nature feeling of a neighborhood that has had several decades or even over century of experience with being ‘part of Atlanta’.

No matter what your favorite kind is, rest assured that you can in fact find that within the Greater Atlanta area.
