A Rare Look at Rentals

Friday, June 30th, 2006

Outside the Perimeter, as well as within there are communities built to spec.  What’s a bit tricky about these is that the planners often really did hope they would be real communities; that is, neighborhoods where the people help each other and know one another and so forth.  This is only sometimes how it plays out in real life.

One such a place is a nice set of apartments with an attached swimming pool.  It’s name is Belmont Place.  It is one of many ‘commuter rental properties’. The style of the place is a contemporary building, not fancy but tasteful.  There are two colors of brickwork used: dark brown and very light, almost creamy.

The bedrooms vary in these places from 1,2 and 3.

Rents here also run in a spectrum from $889-$1200 per month.

Atlanta’s Airport

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

Like every major city Atlanta has an international and domestic flight airport.  The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has two names on it, like some modern children and even some adults.  Both events indicate some definite balance of power within the relationship between the original name bearers.

The mission of this airport is to be the very best airport in the world, and to do so by exceeding customer expectations.

One of the most sublime ways that the airport is serving current customers is by having a location at the website: www.atlanta-airport.com.  On the lower right hand corner of the screen you can check how long the current wait is for airport security at two airport locations.  This shows a pleasantly profound level of sensitivity regarding foresight of customer needs.

If you like the writing here, and need writing services yourself, then look me up at www.Guru.com; ask for Miriam Pia and find yourself able to access a delectable variety of writing styles and talent ranging from children’s stories through magazine articles, ghost writing and of course, web site content.

Minority Pride in Atlanta!

Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

Atlanta is a living testimony to the natural equality of the different races amongst humanity.  Here in America, where the natural African-American populace has striven for the recognition of their inherent equality for centuries, Atlanta expresses this successfully.  The city has had a black Mayor since 1974, and has been led effectively by both men and women.  Not only in this true of the Mayor, but the majority of leadership roles within the city’s major public services: such as fire and police are also ‘black governed’.

Of course the City is interracial, and the simple fact that this is the case reiterates the naturalness of diversity within American culture and proves once again, beyond any doubt, that people of all colors and genders contain exemplars of excellence and leadership.

On a completely different note: the local name for I285 which I have been writing of as “The Greater Loop” is called “The Perimeter” by the locals which has the same meaning.  As always, you will feel better when you are ‘in the know’, and this may help prevent confusion when you look into relocating to Atlanta- the gem of the New South.

An Overview of Atlanta- the main points

Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

Let’s have a look at the general area of Atlanta.  Within the ‘Greater Loop’ there are 4 main locii of populations.  Outside of that super highway there are six main satellite towns.  Use this information to the utmost when you look into purchasing a home in Atlanta.

If you are first time buyers, then you may have not already decided what you want.  Of course the design of the home is one thing.  However, there are different ‘feelings’ that you get based upon the location.  The satellite villages are intending to be genuinely out of the city but still close enough to it, for some adult to commute to work.  The cruel irony of places like these is that often adorable offspring are raised who, when they blossom into the full rage of adolescence wonder why they live in ‘these stinkin’ satellite towns’ when they could be living in the glamorous Metro area.  The good news is that when they move out, they can go find themselves a Loft.

Living in Atlanta: another resource

Monday, June 26th, 2006

Once you have moved to Atlanta, what are you going to do?  Oh, naturally, you will work but most of you will also want and need to have a good time.  Today, I’m just going to let in on another resource.

One of the ways that Atlanta succeeds is through joint ventures between the private and public sectors.  The City has an organization that is devoted to this, and it is known as Atlanta Rising.

Atlanta Rising has it’s own web page and along with it, an accessible calendar of events.  Just to give you the idea, many but not all of the events involve the current Mayor who is a woman.  If you’re like me, then you have no objection to this, but might catch yourself having ‘predicted or expected’ that the person in that role would be a man.

Here’re two examples of the types of activities that have run through this organization during the past few months: the City of Atlanta Retirement, and Tickets for Kids Open Doors to Cultural Events.

Middle Class: Lower Middle Class? Prices to suit Reality not Pride: under $300K

Friday, June 23rd, 2006

Welcome back to the Atlanta Real estate blog.  The fact is that I like to serve the entire range of socioeconomic classes on this, and it isn’t always easy to please you all.  Homes are not like gasoline.  Even though you all need them, tastes and budgets differ throughout an incredibly broad range.

If you buy your blazers inexpensively by picking up your Lauren on sale so it’s only a few hundred dollars that is very sensible.  However, if you are along those lines you may feel that today’s homes aren’t your ‘thing’.  For those of you who grew squeamish regarding $300 on sale blazers, these homes might be more along your lines.

Sadly, if you are down lreally low financially, then today’s offerings will probably feel like those blazers: just too pricey.

These are humble, yet friendly homes right within the city.  See, readers, today I avoided those would seduce me to the suburbs…One of these is a single level brick face, humble yet secure looking ranch house with a lot size of approximately 3/4 acre, giving you the nice spacious urban yard feeling.  If you’re used to real estates then, no, but if you’ve been preparing to spread your wings out of a small apartment then yes.  This one is going for $239,000.

If that price range is good for you, but not the design, how about a 3 bedroom split level with the ‘under / over’ feeling.  The garage is on the bottom of the hill, and has one second story bedroom over it, while behind the hill that leads to the front door there is the ‘front level’ and back there, ‘why those clever fellahs, they did lay in a foundation back there’ allowing for a basement with playroom and laundryroom feeling.  These are great for what they are; I love the multi-storied feeling myself so I get the appeal of these.  This one is within a few grand of the same price as the other and both are part of residential Atlanta.

An Architectural Private Practice

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

Today’s offer is a bit different.  Some may find it pricey, but others will be thrilled.  Did you know that on only a middle class income you can get your hands on a uniquely designed, very fashionable home in Atlanta?  Well, the great news is that you even really can.

Here’s why.  There’re a small group of architects who have decided to effectively ‘build a private practice together’.  The name of their group is a.Modern, and they have a vision.  They design and build a very limited number of exclusive homes within Atlanta, and sell them off.  This way you get to pick something that has the blend of suberb quality and uniquely hand crafted that suits you, and you can get yourself a great place even though you can’t afford a membership to the local country club.

The contact name there is Adam Phillips so that’s who to ask for at info@a.modern.com

Another List of some of Atlanta’ Lofts

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

What makes a loft just that?  As previously mentioned high ceilings have a lot to do with it.  There are two types of loft apartment buildings, the kind that are built that way and the kind that are transformed from whatever it was they had been before.

One of the loft buildings in Atlanta that was ‘born as loft apartments’ is Copenhill Lofts.  It is nestled into a beautfiul area within Atlanta and the front is surrounded by some lovely mature trees.

The others are all different.  One is delightful in its amusing innocence in that it has a GIANT sign on the roof that says exactly and only that.   It is a low, 4 story or so squarish, red brick, industrial looking building with gargantuan windows.  Doubtless, these are fantastic for studio artists and for those who love to grow lots of interior window houseplants.

At 330 Peters St. right in Atlanta proper there is another new experiment in Lofts.  This one is a converted department store, so the large columns have been integrated, offering a distinctive alternative design within the apartments.

Finally, on today’s survey, there is 60 unit place called A&P that has come into what used to be a warehouse and a bakery.

Lofts are ideal for those who are undeniably industrial- as industrial as 90’s music by the same name, modern and imaginative.  Loft apartments are that blend of daily real-life and off the wall creativity that alleviates boredom or troubling thoughts.  So, if you a modern, urban creature, then your big move could be to just such a place.

Is this ‘fishy’? Differing tastes in Real Estate by Miriam Pia

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Today we’ll take an overview on the Atlanta market.  There are residential neighborhoods that have grown up with the city.  Here already we face a basic type of choice.  How do you want your home?  Do you want it to have a fresh, brand new quality?  Do Master Planned neighborhoods appeal to you, or do you wrinkle up your nose at them?  Do you want a residence that has been around from the get-go, a prestigious ‘founding time’ home or are you more into the latest in converted Metropolitan Lofts?

Your lifestyle preferences, personal tastes and budget wil all have to be combined in order to figure this one out.  It is one matter if you are quite clear on what you want.  In that case, all you have to do is find it.  However, you may not be so certain, in which case, the process of elimination can work wonders.  If you need an estate or a country club, or even a modest golf club residence, then the highrises, lofts and most of the rest of town can be deemed ‘chaff’ and that’s that.  Go to Buckhead or Druid Hills first.  If you don’t find what you want there, then you will meet people who can send you in the right direction.  There’s the ‘wheat’.

Everyone has preferences.  To some, there is something strangely ‘fishy’ about modern ‘pre-planned communities’.  I don’t know why; maybe it’s the nursery feeling of the saplings or simply that a lot of folks prefer the well lived in second-nature feeling of a neighborhood that has had several decades or even over century of experience with being ‘part of Atlanta’.

No matter what your favorite kind is, rest assured that you can in fact find that within the Greater Atlanta area.

Southeast, with 5 Bedrooms!

Monday, June 19th, 2006

Welcome back to Atlanta Real Estate!  Today, as promised, we’re back into the market for homes you won’t be building yourselves.  Homebuilding packages are now on offer; this is another new option.

Just to the Southeast of the Old City boundaries there is a new, Master Planned neighborhood surrounded by lush, mature woodlands.  Princeton Lakes Estates offers ‘ready to build’ home packages.  These houses look great!  They are classical brick faced buildings with tasteful windows and enough space to create a real sense of luxury at a surprisingly modest price.  For just over $300,000 you can secure a brand spankin’ new, clean gorgeous home with a 2 story foyer and a double garage and of course, it’s fully detached on a nice lot.

The master bedroom in this beauty has it’s own bathroom.  The ‘kids bedrooms’ also have a mutually adjoining bath for that blend of shared accessibility and privacy and ‘direct service’.  The other bedroom, whoever it’s for, has a totally different private bathroom.

On top of everything else, the neighborhood does have community athletic facilites and the entire place is located in close proximity to a pedestrian style market place designed to look, feel and be friendly.

How close in is Princeton Lakes Estates?  It is just outside Atlanta proper and deep deep within, away from the “Greater Atlanta highway Loop”.
