Lofts & Parks In Atlanta

If you live in Midtown or Downtown the largest local public park is Piedmont.  The park is one of several, but this is one that hosts year long activies for children.  As mentioned yesterday, the park, and downtown are both accessible by MARTA, the public transit system.  MARTA covers both rail and bus.  Tickets can be purchased that include both types of transit in one journey.

The Loft has been growing in popularity during the past two decades.  It seems they have become part of urban renewal schemes.  Often they are sold by the square footage.  Although they can be home to small families, they are built more for individuals and for couples or a pair of friends.  Two bedroom lofts can be had, however, so don’t give up if ‘that’s your thing’.

There are relatively giant lofts, such as a 4000 footer I saw where you buy the entire building.  In other words, it’s a ‘house-loft’ based upon the original warehouse architecture and placed gloriously close to downtown.

If you can catch one for under $300,000 realize that you have found a bargain!  For first time buyers this might come as a shock, whereas for others this may be boringly obvious.  The good news is, that a loft may be a relatively inexpensive way to access Buckhead, for those who want to.

For those on the opposite end of the spectrum, you don’t have to cringe: you can easily spend a “Mill” on a fantastic loft in a prestigious neghborhood..

Coming up in future articles: landmarks, DeKalb county, and way cheaper homes…and ultimately, suburbia.
